The anatomy of the clitoris was first recorded in 1559 by Renaldus Columbus of Padua, who claimed that previous anatomists had overlooked the existence of “such beautiful things.”

But it was largely ignored until 1998, when Australian urologist Helen O’Connell discovered that the clitoris is much larger than the “little hill” (from the Greek word “Kleitoris”). The “little hill” is actually just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that the true complexity of the clitoris was only discovered in the late 20th century speaks volumes about how undervalued female sexuality has been.

As the only organ in the female body dedicated solely to sexual pleasure and the epicenter of most women’s orgasms, the clitoris should never be underestimated or ignored!

WHAT IS THE CLITORIS?

The clitoris is the most sensitive organ in the human body, much more sensitive than the tongue, fingertips, or penis. A good way for penis owners to understand the sensitivity of the clitoris is to imagine the sensitivity of their penis doubled and compressed to the size of a pea.

The clitoral hood, also known as the glans, is what most people know and refer to as the “clitoris.” The clitoris lies beneath a fold of skin called the clitoral hood at the top of the inner vaginal lips. The tip of the clitoris is the only part of the clitoris that is outside the body.

The majority of the clitoris (about 95 percent) is located inside the body, with two long stems consisting of the spongy and cavernous bodies originating on the pubic bone and curving downwards like hooks on either side of the vaginal opening.

The clitoris swells up to twice its size due to the blood flow that occurs during sexual arousal, and becomes erect and erect, similar to a male erection. When she is truly aroused, the clitoral hood retracts and may no longer be visible. The clitoral hood may retract and return several times during sex, but the clitoris always retracts during orgasm.

After orgasm, the muscles do not fully relax: this is one of the reasons why women have multiple orgasms.

HOW TO INTAKE YOUR CLITORIS?

Different parts of the clitoris feel different. Touching the tip of the clitoris is the most intense sensation, which many women find unpleasant. If the touch is too strong, it can actually be painful.

Most women find it much more pleasurable to stroke the side of the clitoris rather than directly the tip of the clitoris.

Women have incredibly complex sexual responses and can take a long time to reach orgasm. However, this is fantastic news for the intensity of our orgasms – the longer the build-up, the more powerful the orgasm. However, this can also mean that our partner’s hands/tongue get tired. However, playing with a vibrator, either with a partner or alone, can easily help with this and allow us to explore new ways of experiencing pleasure and orgasm.
